NH Vacation Rental on Sunrise Lake, Middleton NH - Robin Clapp (508) 622-1464

This is our May 2008 edition travel newsletter written for our vacation rental guests traveling to New Hampshire lakes region to enjoy a wonderful vacation. If you are looking for a place to stay in the lakes region of New Hampshire, please take a look at our NH Vacation Rental.

2008 NH Winter and Spring Weather Review

"Ice-Out declared on Lake Winnipesaukee Wednesday April 23" was the headline the day I spent on the beach swimming with my family. It was April vacation week after all and we had beach cleanup to do for the upcoming season. The temperature reached 80 degrees that day, can you believe it, in April!

This all comes after a record breaking 118 inches of snowfall from December through March. My neighbors reported there was a storm almost every Wednesday and Sunday like clock work. If you were up there you were lucky enough to witness the 8 foot plus snowbanks on either side of my driveway.

The only question left now is what will summer bring? Let's hope for clear skies and comfortable breezes.

Lake Drain and Dam Repair

LAKE DRAIN IS SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 1 - Latest News dated September 14, 2008

As some of you already know Sunrise Lake will be drained in October to repair the dam. The schedule of work will be dependent on weather. I will keep you updated with progress as I receive it.

Visiting Area Lakes

The lakes region of NH offer many public beaches. For a small fee you can spend the day exploring new shorelines on some of NH's most beautiful lakes.

Wentworth State Park is 50 acres on the shore of Lake Wentworth in Wolfeboro. Lake Wentworth is named for the former royal governor of New Hampshire, John Wentworth. Governor Wentworth at one time had a summer home on Governor's Shore. The mansion burned down in 1820, and the land is now owned by the State of New Hampshire.

Directions to Wentworth State Park:
Starting from Lakeside Promise go back out to the entrance of Hampshire Shores Association. Take a right and the next left onto Hollow Road (Route 153 North). Stay on Route 153 North to the center of Sanbornville where you pick up Route 109 North toward Wolfeboro. Wentworth State Park is located on Route 109. Call (603)569-3699 for more information. The park is open 10AM-6PM in the summer and entrance fees are $3. There is a bath house, picnic tables, boat launch and playground area.

Brewster Beach in Wolfeboro is a public beach on Lake Winnipesaukee open from 9AM until dusk during the summer. There are no entrance fees. For more information call (603)569-1532.

While you are visiting NH this season consider adding local ingredients to your favorite family recipes. Farmers Markets not only support the local farming industry they also provide you with the freshest most delicious fruits and vegetables.

Showcase your family vacation photos

I have taken hundreds of photos of our vacations at Lakeside Promise. Just look at my website, every photo is one that was taken at the house, beach or surrounding area. There are even photos of me, my children, my husband, my father-in-law, a fish, and a loon.

I hope seeing these photos helped you imagine a vacation at Lakeside Promise. But these are photos of us owners. What about the guests? Did you take photos when you were fishing, swimming, hiking, skiing, or whatever else you did on your fun vacation to NH? Photos can be of people or scenery.

I would like to add a page to my website entitled "Our Guests on Vacation at Lakeside Promise". Send me your digital photos!

September 1st I will randomly draw 2 names from the photo submissions. The winners will receive $50. If you want to display your fun family vacation photos and enter to win $50, submit your digital photos before the September 1 deadline.
