This is our September 2006 edition travel newsletter written for our vacation rental guests traveling to New Hampshire lakes region to enjoy a wonderful vacation. If you are looking for a place to stay in the lakes region of New Hampshire, please take a look at our NH Vacation Rental.
Summer Ends
Summer is coming to a close I am sad to report. Hasn’t the weather been
wonderful? I hope you all enjoyed your summer vacations. As promised this is the
second newsletter of the year. With the fall and winter months on the horizon, I
decided to focus on some great activities available during the remainder of 2006
and beginning of 2007.
Thank you again to all our guests, especially the family from Henniker NH for
being so patient with us as we replaced the refrigerator. As a reminder, if
there are newsletter topics you would like to see in the March 2007 issue, just
let me know. -Robin
Vacation Ideas for this coming Fall and Winter Seasons
The Polar Express
Do you remember the cherished children’s story “The Polar Express” by Chris Van
Allsburg? It is a story of a little boy who rides a train to the North Pole to
meet Santa and all his elves.
“The Polar Express – A magical Journey to the North Pole” has been made
realistic by the “Believe in Books Literacy” Foundation. Train rides lasting two
hours round trip leave both the North Conway and Lincoln NH stations throughout
the month of December. Come dressed in pajamas and share this experience with
your little ones.
Tickets are available through a Mail-In Lottery system. For more information
visit:
The Polar Express Train Ride. Lottery drawings for North Conway will be
held on October 24, 2006 between 7:30-10:00 PM; October 26th for Lincoln, NH.
Our NH vacation rental is located approximately one hour from the North Conway
station.
Wolfeboro’s Scarecrow Festival
This has to be the most interesting event all year. The main streets of
Wolfeboro are lined with scarecrow creations limited only by imagination. Each
business and organization competes for the best scarecrow.
The event takes place September 30 – October 7, 2006. I recommend Wolfeboro for
those who enjoy a great downtown walking experience. I can’t think of a better
time to stroll around Wolfeboro than during their annual Scarecrow festival. It
is completely free. Visit
Wolfeboro Chamber of Commerce website for more information.
The Village Players
The village players, located on Glendon Street in Wolfeboro, is a non-profit
amateur community theater that seats 200. They will be performing “A Funny Thing
Happened on the Way to the Forum” November 10-19, 2006. Tickets can be purchased
online at:
Village Players of Wolfeboro.
Christmas Parade
The Annual Christmas in Wolfeboro Parade will be held on November 25th. Other
holiday events are held throughout the month of December. For more information
on these events please visit:
Wolfeboro Chamber of Commerce website.
First Night Wolfeboro
First Night in Wolfeboro is a community-wide, alcohol-free event held on Main
Street. First Night buttons provide admission to all events and happenings.
Events begin at 2PM and last until midnight. Last year the event held two sets
of fireworks, face painting, ice sculptures, music, dancing, and theatre. First
Night 2007 is still in the making. See the
Wolfeboro Chamber of Commerce website to find out the latest developments.
Hay and Sleigh Rides
I’ve been asked many times for recommendations for a place to enjoy a hay ride
or a sleigh ride. After doing some research, I have found Charmingfare Farm in
Candia, NH. They are 50 miles from our NH vacation rental but definitely worth
the trip.
Charmingfare is not only a farm, it is also a zoo. They have 200 animals of 40
different species. They host events throughout the year including Halloween
parties, lighted winter wonderland, Santa’s big party, and much more. For more
information visit
Charmingfare Farm website or call (603)483-5623.
Gunstock Mountain
Is it really time to start thinking about your next ski trip? We would love to
offer you the best vacation rental experience, only a 45 minute drive from
Gunstock Mountain in Gilford, NH.
Gunstock has 50 trails, 17 open for night skiing. They also have tubing, cross
country skiing, snowshoeing, ski lessons, and a children’s center. Visit
Gunstock Mountain website or call 1-800-Gunstock for more information.
Vacation Specials
Would you like a great rate to experience some of the events listed above? How
about a tax-free shopping trip? Are you overdue for a girl’s weekend away? There
are never enough romantic getaway weekends.
For the months of November, December, and April we are offering a special
weekend rate of $400 and a special weekly rate of $800 on all non-holiday dates.
Summertime is just finishing. If you want to make a reservation for next season;
do so before October 1st to receive 2006 rates.
Internet Access Connection Survey
I mentioned in the March 2006 Newsletter that I had just begun to offer a high
speed internet access connection to our vacation rental. It has been available
for six months now. If you have used this amenity please let me know how you
liked it. If you haven’t but you would like to in the future, please let me know
this as well on our
Contact Us email page.
Sincerely,
Christopher and Robin Clapp
